Refocusing Rape Investigations: A Commentary on Research Supporting Operation Soteria Bluestone

Abstract This paper presents a commentary on the academic research that was undertaken in support of pilot project Avon and Somerset Constabulary to develop new rape investigation model, Operation Soteria Bluestone. A five-pillar approach re-oriented investigative practice towards suspect focussed case building whilst maintaining for complainants. In addition, organisation enablers were developed enhance specialist training, intelligent use data, promoting officer welfare wellbeing. The empirical papers addressed various aspects five Pillars. Proof concept, conduciveness political, economic, social environment, connectivity with other associated work employed as appraisal criteria. There is much commend proposed model but absence suspects offenders, given their prominence model’s direction, together lack strong implementation framework, are omissions hopefully will be future.
